MV-engine
Mike Virant took the solid running 455 out of a 71 Riviera and had it mounted on a stand to get it better then it had ever been. First you see what it looked like before and then after it has been modified.
The result is stunning. A true beauty.

Mike, leave the hood off after mounting this engine!!!
too good to hide in an engine compartment.
Mike Virants engine build up
The donor car.
this is (next 3 pics) what it looked like just after the 'extraction'.
not bad, many buick owners would have been pretty satisfied with these looks.
mounted on a stand, for easy working...

Ok, now the result and whats been done with this big bucks, sorry big buick block:

-1971 455 buick
-bored out .030 over = 462 Cubic inches
-edelbrock manifold * powder coated silver
-valve covers * powder coated black kringle
-heads ported & oh yea polished
-over size exhaust valves 1.750
-oversize intake valves 2.125
-heat passages blocked off in heads ( + 10hp)
-cam *buick gs configuration.
-timing cover oil passages opened to 9/16
-oil pump rebuilt with booster plate
-oil gage on engine because I used a oil pump primer to
-check oil pressure and to prime pump.
-1975 distributor Hei ignition added.
-exhaust manifolds will be finished with gray black manifold dressing.
-then for carburation a sealed delco rebuilt 1972 q-jet
-upgraded to a internally regulated alternator 100amp to supply juice to the
extras. Just looking for a clean way to mount it. ( probably a aluminium mount )
-opened up the exhaust manifolds some.

caution:

if you see an ole gray haired guy : you may not be able to pass   :-)
